"Far Above Rubies!"

Saturday, October 1, 2011
9:00 am – 4:30 pm
Richland Lutheran Church, Richland, WA
Guest Speaker: Rebecca Meidinger

"Far Above Rubies!" is a free one-day conference for girls in grades 7-12, for their mothers or other mentoring women in their lives, and for women who are concerned about the teen girls of today.

Far Above Rubies will:

  • Center around the truth that each individual girl is a unique, beloved child of God, born with inherent value and great worth, and made whole through Jesus Christ.
  • Make a real-life connection between being a daughter of God and what that identity means for daily living.
  • Teach that God designed sexual intimacy to be shared only in the relationship of marriage between one man and one woman.  Because sexual intimacy is a valuable and sacred gift, and because each individual is inherently valuable, we deserve to save it for the context for which it was designed, marriage.
  • Extend the grace and forgiveness of Jesus to those who have begun sexual activity, inviting them to commit to "renewed abstinence."
  • Teach healthy, practical dating guidelines and strategies.
  • Bring a message that marriage is rewarding and exciting and should be valued and honored.
  • Equip girls to choose wise friendships and walk girls through practical steps of making healthy choices.
  • Empower girls to see their bodies as beautiful, and encourage girls to take care of their bodies and dress is a way that honors God and themselves.
  • Invite girls to dream about the lives to which God has called them and give them tools and encouragement to achieve their dreams and goals.

Guest speaker, Rebecca Meidinger, is the Director of Far Above Rubies. Rebecca is a trained Abstinence Educator & Speaker with a background in youth ministry and outdoor camping ministry. She served as the Director of Youth Ministry at Atonement Lutheran Church (LCMC), Fargo, ND for five years and now works as the Community Outreach Coordinator for Make a Sound Choice, a character and risk avoidance education program of First Choice Clinic in Fargo.

Rebecca's passion is to guide teenagers to understand themselves as children of God, freed by Jesus, and to equip them with knowledge, empowerment, and practical skills to live with sexual purity and integrity in the midst of a sex-saturated culture.

Rebecca is married to Paul, who is her best friend and support. They have two beautiful young daughters and live in Fargo, ND. Rebecca loves to spend time outdoors with her family, run, walk, bike, quilt, spend time with girlfriends over coffee, connect with friends via Facebook, bake with her daughters, and go on dates with her husband.
